Nobody likes something for free as much as me. Well, there are some things that I like to spend my money on, but if I can get something of good quality for free or at least for a good cost Im there. I carry this philosophy over to my professional life as well. Every year, I find myself searching for continuing education opportunities that include free CEUs. Dont get me wrong, it is not that I dont feel that CEUs are important, after all they help us to be able to take care of our patients and clients. However, Im still paying for my education the first time around and I have found that I can do a little research to prevent me from having to pay for my continuing education too.

There is no reason that you should ever have to pay for your CEUs, unless you just happen to be interested in a particular subject that does not offer any free courses or trainings. You always need to keep this in mind when searching for CEU opportunities. Yes, free CEUs is important, however you have to be willing to give a little as well, meaning you might need to pay a little to get the training that you need and or want.

For this reason, I always budget a little money to pay for one or two trainings every two years in order to complete the CEU requirements in my state and to keep me from simply attending a training with free CEUs for the free CEUs. There have been year where I havent had to pay any money and other years where I paid a little because I couldnt let an educational opportunity pass me by. So remember, free CEUs are good, but a little money can also go a long way.
